Get Involved

Cavendish Cancer Care is a local charity that relies on the generosity and commitment of its friends and supporters.

We could not keep on helping people without the invaluable efforts of volunteers, supporters and friends.

There are lots of ways you could help us to help other people cope with cancer.
Every person like YOU who gets involved makes a real difference to Cavendish Cancer Care and people living with cancer.

Getting Started – 7 Steps To Help

Step 3 - Get organised

Allow plenty of time for planning and organising your event.

Get as many of your friends, family and colleagues as you can to help you!

Make sure that you get permission for your fundraising event. A permit must be obtained from your local authority if collecting in public places, and for events in public buildings such as supermarkets, shopping centres and public houses you must seek permission from the manager. If you are unsure, more information can be found from Sheffield City Council or from fundraising@cavcare.org.uk

Consider whether you may need public liability insurance cover for your event. If in doubt ask us fundraising@cavcare.org.uk

To help you make the most of your events and activities we have a number of guidance and advice sheets, Raffle guidelines - if you plan to hold a raffle. Publicise your event - for further information about how to approach local media, writing a press release and other ways to get your event noticed. Sponsor forms – to make a head start with collecting sponsors please contact us to order your sponsor forms.

These and many other guidance sheets will be made available to you once your event has been registered.

Step 5 - Order fundraising materials

We have a range of items available to help you promote your event, raise extra funds for Cavendish Cancer Care and help raise awareness. We can provide you with posters, leaflets, balloons, collecting tins, pin badges and more.

Step 6 - Become a Cavendish Cancer Care 12-month Challenger!

Would you like to take your fundraising to the next level? If so, why not take the Cavendish Cancer Care "Grow a gift" challenge.
You can start off and aim for £500 or £3,000 – Or More!. All you need to do is decide how much money you would like to raise for us and then organise your fundraising events to help you achieve this target.
You could embark on the Challenge on your own but why not get together with friends or colleagues and make it a group effort, and in return for all your fundraising efforts we will ensure that you are recognised in our Newsletter or enews.

Step 7 - Sending in money you have raised

Once your event has taken place, please send us a cheque for the money you have raised. Cheques should be made payable to: Cavendish Cancer Care.

Community Fundraisers In Action

Please register your interest in volunteering or taking part in an event to help Cavendish Cancer Care here

You can use your imagination to come up with exciting ideas – here are some of our community fundraisers in action:

Joan York - Birthday CelebrationsJoan York presenting her cheque to Jonny Cole of the fundraising team

Joan wanted to contribute something to the centre and involve her friends and family as well. Witha special birthday on the horizon organsed a Pie and Pea supper and Scottish Country dancing night. Joan asked friends to pay a ticket price on the door rather than give her presents. This money combined with a raffle on the evening meant Joan was able to contribute £635 back to the centre for the care of others.

Poker Nights

Another community fundraiser along with his friends, decided to run a poker night on our behalf at Napoleon’s casino. The casino donated free: the room and croupiers and to make it more fun for everyone, provided an hour’s tuition for novices.

Each player paid an entrance fee that was split between a donation to the Centre and a prize pot for those taking part. An excellent friendly evening of Poker followed and someone who had never played before the evening ended up with top prize – so the tuition paid off.

Anyone who has a passion for poker can organise a night for us at Napoleon's can take advantage of this kind offer by Napoleons, if you love playing poker and have friends who do, or want a great team building event for colleagues and friends at work why not have a nights playing in style and generate some much needed funds for us as well, contact the fundrasing team for further information.

Pam Wigfield and Friends – Bridge DrivePam Wigfield - who organises our bridge day with friends

We are extremely lucky that each year Pam and her friends organise a Bridge Drive on our behalf. Over 100 ladies enjoy a game of bridge, lunch, and most importantly, an opportunity to socialise with friends old and new, and attend this popular event. The money from each lady’s entrance fee plus the proceeds from the raffle come directly to Cavendish Cancer Care.
