Events

Cavendish Cancer Care has a wide range of fundraising events each year - the highlight being the Diamond Ball. We are always looking for people to help organise and manage these events. So, if you cannot make a regular commitment to us, you might be able to help out occasionally to sell raffle tickets, collect money, distribute tickets and make sure things run smoothly. Also Nikki Skinner who conquered one of the highest peaks in the Nepalese Himilayas Ama Dablam. "Ama Dablam" or "Mother of Pearl Necklace" stand 6812m, Nikki completed this feat in 2007 and  raised more than £1500 .

We work in partnership with a number of experienced overseas challenge providers who offer a number of opportunities to undertake exciting adventures around the world. Please get in touch with the fundraising team at the centre if there is something you ahve always wanted to do.

Running

There are lots of opportunities to take part in sponsored runs on our behalf. This is a really effective way of raising funds and keeping fit at the same time.
Keep an eye out for the various events, from short fun runs to full length marathons and go for the one that you can manage best.
Cavendish Cancer Care will not be allocated another London marathon place until 2015 but, as with this year, some people gain their own places and run on our behalf. If you would like to do so we would be happy to support your training and participation in the “big one.”

Sheffield Half Marathon

A lot of our supporters took part in this very successful 2011 race raising more than £3000. Including our own Ann Hetherington and her daughter Charlotte,

Walking

We can offer you a range of fundraising walks –in some of the region’s most scenic locations.

At the easy end we have walks at Chatsworth house for all abilities, unfortunatley we were not lucky enough to secure permission to hold on this year but hope to continue to be supported in the future

At the harder end, we can offer advice and experience on walking the Pennine Way. Pictured (right) are Garry Scotting and Mark Tamblyn of the Gilder Group who trekked the Pennine Way as part of their winning contribution to the Halliwells Cavendish Corporate Challenge. Mark and Garry raised almost £20,000 as an incredible contribution to our work. More recently Garry completed this feat again having decided to walk with our Corporate Partnerships Manager, Sally Eustace. Sally and Garry again completed the walk in 13 days

"Completing the 286 mile long Pennine Way in under two weeks was tougher than we could've imagined, but we’ve had the privilege of meeting some fantastic characters and seen some of the most incredible scenery along the way. And, most importantly, the money raised will hopefully be enough to make a difference to the lives of those that really need it.” Garry Scotting - CEO, Gilder Group

Challenges
These are for people who like to combine fundraising with feats of endurance. The following are some examples of what people have done for us that may insipre you to some even greater feats on our behalf.

Coast to Coast Cycle Ride - From Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay – a RAF ROTC team recently did this in 24 hours.

Coast to Coast - Top to Bottom Walk - Peter Scott (above), a friend and supporter, recently walked both Coast to Coast and John O'Groats to Lands End on behalf of a number of local charities who had helped his wife Sarah. Peter raised more than £5000 for Cavendish Cancer Care in total.
